Flo from Progressive Insurance…jumped-the-shark annoying – Part 2

Just a note, while doing research for this Progressive double-feature post (i.e. trying to search for my own website on Google) I came across someone who shares my thoughts on Ms. Flo. I found it via Digg, where there was a boatload of like-minded citizens voicing their opinions about annoying commercials. My kind of people!

Anyways, continuing the post from yesterday, here are a couple more Progressive ads that annoy me…

Big Money

Flo: “Go big money! I mean go…it’s your break, honey.” – annoying
Also annoying…the stupid money guy dancing.

 

Motorcycle Insurance (900 V-Twin)

Guy: “Sounds like you ride a 500.”
Flo: “More like a 900 V-Twin.”
Guy: “Well excuse me.”
Flo: “Well, you’re excused.”
Maybe it’s part of the joke, that there’s some kind of sexual tension between them, but Flo doesn’t seem to get it or something? Either way, it’s annoying.

Flo from Progressive Insurance…jumped-the-shark annoying – Part 1

These Progressive Insurance ads with Flo started off alright, but at this point I can’t take it anymore. It seems that a lot of the insurance commercials love to push it waaaayyy to far with their ads (Geico cavemen anyone?) until they’ve jumped the shark…then they push it even farther! There were just too many Progressive/Flo ads to include in one post, so you get a double-feature today and another tomorrow. We kick it off with the “funky disco” commercial and the old man “Revised Language” commercial…both of which are extremely annoying. I know some people can’t stand Flo, but she’s not even the worst part of these ads. Maybe I’m being too critical of something that is supposed to be light-hearted and “funny”, but seriously, it’s time for Progressive to put these ads to bed…PLEASE!

Old Man Revised Language

“Flibbity flab or Mumbo jumbo” – not funny
“Gobble-de-gook” – still not funny
“Dagnabut” – continuing the trend
“Okey mcsmokey skiddily-do” – the worst of the whole commercial
“Giggity” – funny when Quagmire says it on Family Guy…annoying here

Is this supposed to be funny because it’s an old guy using slang, something young people use, but he’s using weird slang that young people DON’T use? Annoying.

 

Funky Disco

Annoying disco-roller-skater: “Yow! Is it just me or is it getting funky in here?! Get your groove on y’all! Catch ya on the flip side!” – annoying
Flo: “…it would just break his funky little heart” – annoying
